Sivakasi crackers price list 2026: what the 80% discount really means
Buying from Sivakasi ·
We do not sell crackers or take orders. We build billing software for cracker shops. Product names and prices on this page are market information from published Sivakasi price lists, shown for reference; buy from the licensed shop of your choice.
Search for a Sivakasi crackers price list and every site you land on shouts the same thing: 80% discount, factory price, cheapest in India. Then you compare two of those lists and the same flower pot costs ₹26 on one and ₹36 on the other. Neither shop is lying to you. You are just reading a price system nobody explained, and once you see it, comparing shops takes five minutes.
The discount is a convention, not a sale
The MRP printed on a cracker box is a nominal number. A flower pot box carrying MRP ₹130 sells in the trade for ₹13 to ₹26. The whole chain, from the Sivakasi factory gate to the shop counter, quotes prices as a discount off that inflated MRP, usually between 60% and 90%. So the 80% board outside every shop is not this week's offer. It is how the trade writes prices, all year, everywhere.
Net rate is the only number that matters
The price you actually pay is the net rate: MRP minus the discount. Serious price lists print all three columns, MRP, discount and net rate, and the net rate column is the only one worth reading.
| MRP on the box | Discount | Net rate you pay |
|---|---|---|
| ₹130 | 90% | ₹13 |
| ₹130 | 80% | ₹26 |
| ₹250 | 85% | ₹37.50 |
| ₹1,000 | 70% | ₹300 |
Look at the first two rows. The same box at 90% off costs half what it does at 80% off. Ten percentage points of discount doubles or halves your bill, which is why the headline number on the banner tells you almost nothing.
Why two shops with the same discount charge different prices
Different brands print different MRPs on near-identical items. One sparkler box says ₹130, another says ₹180. Both shops advertise 80% off, so one sells at ₹26 and the other at ₹36 for what looks like the same thing on the shelf. A bigger discount on a bigger MRP can still be the worse deal. This single fact explains most of the confusion between competing Sivakasi price lists.
What crackers actually cost in 2026
These are real lines from two published 2026 Sivakasi price lists (both linked under sources below). Your quotes will differ by brand and month, but this is the shape of a genuine list: MRP, then the net rate you pay.
| Item | Pack | MRP | Net rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electric sparklers, 10cm | 10 pcs | ₹60 | ₹12 |
| Red sparklers, 15cm | 10 pcs | ₹220 - ₹305 | ₹44 - ₹61 |
| Electric sparklers, 50cm | 5 - 10 pcs | ₹800 - ₹960 | ₹160 - ₹192 |
| Flower pots, big | 10 pcs | ₹310 - ₹425 | ₹62 - ₹85 |
| Colour koti / deluxe pots | 10 pcs | ₹1,180 - ₹1,750 | ₹236 - ₹350 |
| Ground chakkar, big | 10 pcs | ₹150 - ₹210 | ₹30 - ₹42 |
| Kuruvi sound crackers, 2¾" | 5 pcs | ₹40 - ₹45 | ₹8 - ₹9 |
| 100 wala garland | 1 pc | ₹325 | ₹65 |
| Multi-shot aerial, 12 - 30 shots | 1 box | ₹900 - ₹2,050 | ₹180 - ₹410 |
| Multi-shot aerial, 100+ shots | 1 box | ₹9,200 - ₹22,500 | ₹1,840 - ₹4,500 |
| Gift box, 20 - 22 items | 1 box | ₹1,450 - ₹1,650 | ₹290 - ₹330 |
| Gift box, 50 items | 1 box | ₹4,500 - ₹5,000 | ₹900 - ₹1,000 |
Notice the spread inside every category. A sparkler box is ₹12 or ₹192 depending on size, and an aerial box is ₹180 or ₹4,500 depending on shots. This is why a shop cannot answer what do crackers cost, and why comparing two shops means comparing the same line, same size, same count.
How to compare price lists in five minutes
- Ignore the discount percentage completely. Read only the net rate column.
- Compare per piece or per box of the same size. A 10-piece packet against a 12-piece packet is not a comparison.
- Ask whether the net rate includes 18% GST. Two ₹26 quotes are not equal if one adds tax at billing.
- Ask for the list's validity date. Sivakasi lists carry scheduled increases as Diwali approaches, and a cheaper list that expires next week may not be cheaper when you actually buy.
- Get two or three lists before deciding. Our directory has phone numbers for 986 shops, so collecting quotes over WhatsApp costs you nothing.
Shortlist shops before you ask for lists: the full directory covers 1,447 shops across Sivakasi, Sattur and Virudhunagar, and the best-rated Sattur shops list is a good place to request your first quotes.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the 80% discount on Sivakasi crackers real?
- It is real arithmetic on an inflated MRP, not a sale. The trade prices everything as a discount off a nominal printed MRP, so the number you should compare between shops is the net rate, the price after discount, never the discount percentage.
- Why do Sivakasi price lists differ so much for the same item?
- Because brands print different MRPs on similar products and shops apply different discounts to them. Always convert to net rate per piece or per box of the same size before calling one list cheaper.
- Do Sivakasi cracker prices include GST?
- Crackers carry 18% GST. Many shops quote GST-inclusive net rates on public lists, but not all, so confirm before ordering. A quote that adds 18% at billing wipes out most apparent savings.
- When are Sivakasi cracker prices lowest?
- Early in the season. Lists published around July and August typically rise in steps as Diwali approaches, which is why shops push advance booking. See our guide on the best time to buy.
