Diwali savings scheme
Chit fund scheme software for crackers shops
Upload every member once, record each month’s collection in seconds, see who is behind without opening a register, and close the scheme with a Diwali bill settled against what each member saved.
Meena Stores missed July and August. That’s the next call.
The scheme that fills the lean months
A crackers shop earns for forty-five days and waits for the other three hundred and twenty. A monthly scheme changes that: members pay ₹500 or ₹1,000 every month from January, and in October they collect crackers worth their savings plus a bonus. The shop has cash in April and a full order book before the season opens.
The hard part was never the idea. It was three hundred names in a register, a collection boy’s notebook, and one evening in October trying to work out who paid eight months and who paid five. The same party master, ledger and billing that run your counter run the scheme too, so there is nothing separate to learn.
Four steps, January to Diwali
- Step 1
Upload your members
Import the whole register from Excel in one go. Name, phone, address and notes map once. Members sit under their own party type, apart from trade parties.
- Step 2
Collect month after month
Record each instalment as a receipt on the member's ledger: amount, date, cash or UPI. No bill required. The saved total is the running balance.
- Step 3
Watch the ledger, not the register
Every member and their balance on one screen. Missed months stand out, and the phone button sits next to the name for the reminder call.
- Step 4
Close with a Diwali bill
Bill the member's crackers, settle it against their savings, and print or WhatsApp one statement showing every receipt and the final bill.
Closing day, member by member
When a member comes to collect, their ledger already shows the total saved. Bill their crackers from your retail price list the way you bill anyone else, then settle the bill against the savings. A member who picks more than they saved pays the difference at the counter; one who picks less keeps the balance on their ledger. The printed statement lists every monthly receipt and the final bill, so there is no argument about what was paid in March.
- Members are ordinary parties: same ledger, same statements, same WhatsApp share
- Bonus goods go on the bill as a discount or a free line, your choice
- Run this year’s scheme as its own party type so next year’s starts clean, with last year’s members one import away
- Counter staff can record receipts without seeing reports, with screen-level access control
Questions shop owners ask
- How does a crackers chit fund scheme work?
- A member pays the shop a fixed amount every month, say ₹1,000 for ten months. Near Diwali the shop hands over crackers worth the total saved, usually with a bonus of extra goods or a higher discount. The shop gets cash through the lean months and a guaranteed Diwali customer; the member spreads a large festival purchase across the year.
- How do I get my existing members into the software?
- Export your register or Excel sheet, map the columns once (name, phone, address, notes) and import. Hundreds of members load in one go under their own party type, such as “Chit 2026”, so they never mix with your wholesale or retail parties.
- How is each monthly payment recorded?
- Open the member's ledger and record a receipt for the month: amount, date and mode (cash, UPI, bank). No bill is needed. Every receipt shows on the member's ledger, and the total saved is always the running balance.
- How do I know who has missed a month?
- The ledger view lists every member with their running balance side by side. Filter to the scheme's party type and the members whose saved total is below the expected month count stand out immediately, with a one-tap call button next to the name.
- What happens at closing?
- Raise a normal sales bill for the member's crackers and settle it against the amount they have saved. If the bill is more than the savings, the difference shows as outstanding; if it is less, the balance carries. The member's ledger closes with the bill and every receipt in one statement you can print or WhatsApp.
- Is a shop savings scheme the same as a registered chit fund?
- Usually not. Most crackers shop schemes are advance-payment schemes for goods, where the member receives products rather than a cash prize. Registered chit funds are governed by the Chit Funds Act and involve auctions and cash pay-outs. The software records collections and the closing bill; check the rules that apply to your scheme with your auditor.
