Type buy crackers online into Google and you get pages of Sivakasi websites with carts and checkout buttons. Then you read that the Supreme Court banned online sale of firecrackers. Both things are real, and the gap between them is exactly what this post explains, because that gap is where buyers either get a good deal or get burned.

What the court actually said

In its 2018 orders in Arjun Gopal v. Union of India, the Supreme Court barred e-commerce sale of firecrackers and directed that sales happen only through licensed traders. That is why no honest cracker website charges your card at checkout. The cart you fill is an enquiry list: the shop calls or messages you back, confirms items and price, and takes payment separately. The sale legally happens at the licensed shop, and the parcel is booked as a consignment from it.

How a remote order actually flows

You send the shop your list, or fill its website cart, which arrives as an enquiry.
The shop replies on WhatsApp or a call with availability and a net-rate quote.
You pay an advance, commonly 50% to 100% by UPI or transfer.
The shop books the parcel through a lorry or parcel service that accepts fireworks, to its regular destination cities.
You collect at the parcel office, or receive doorstep delivery where the service offers it, and pay any balance.

Where delivery realistically works

Fireworks are restricted goods for transport, so ordinary couriers refuse them. Shops use specific parcel services with the permits and the habit of carrying crackers, which means delivery works well to cities those services already run to, mostly across Tamil Nadu and the neighbouring southern states, and gets patchy or impossible beyond. State rules differ too, and a few states and the Delhi NCR region restrict conventional crackers outright. The only reliable answer is the shop's own: ask exactly which parcel office serves your city and how long it takes.

The safe-order checklist

Verify the shop exists before paying: find it in the directory, check its Google rating and address, and call the listed number.
Get the final quote in writing on WhatsApp: items, counts, net rate, GST, transport cost and dispatch date.
Pay the advance to the shop's own UPI or account name, not a personal account with a different name.
Ask for the bill and the parcel receipt photo when it ships. A licensed shop provides both without argument.
Order early. Parcel services jam in the last two weeks before Diwali, and a stuck consignment cannot be couriered around the jam.

When remote ordering is the wrong tool

Small orders travel badly: transport charges are per parcel, so ₹2,000 of crackers can carry ₹400 of freight. Fragile fancy items also fare worse in transit than sound crackers. For a small family budget, a local licensed shop or a shared group order makes more sense than a solo parcel.

Shortlist shops that already take remote orders: start from the best-rated Sattur shops or the most-reviewed shops in the belt, and message two or three for quotes before choosing.
